Flippin’ on south into the heat of summer…

After climbing the northern AT terminus on August 18, we spent a few days driving south while stopping periodically to see friends/family and do some non-mountain sightseeing. Here are a few of the people and places we saw during our drive:

We then spent a few days in the Shenandoah Valley visiting family and friends, and took advantage of mobility (our car) to slack-pack (no big pack) the southern 45 miles of the Shenandoah Park AT over two of those days…saw a few bears. πŸ™‚

Then it was again time to get sweaty, strap the packs back on and continue the journey south…

  1. What is a crab-like, owl-like, bat-like creature doing on the boulder above the waterfall in your photo above the lost apples of the Blue Ridge??? Will accept answer from you or any other Responder willing to make a guess,
